Blog/Web Design

>> Wednesday, March 03, 2010

I am thinking of taking some classes on Web Design. I really would like to learn how to make my blog snazzy. Does anyone have an suggestions on books or where to start? All I know is I would probably have to learn HTML and CSS. Or a cheap designer to redo my blog in case I totally bomb the learning thing?

Also does anyone have feedback on Wordpress? I have heard it is better and was considering moving Da Eads over? Insight? Comments?

Please learn.. then you can do mine for me. Go to your IT team at work one of them probably knows and be willing to spend some time with you. Google utube videos on it and I bet you can get a start there! I use wordpress for my photography site but think that blogger is easier to use. But I paid someone to create it so its a more difficult layout in general!

etsy may have some blog designs you can buy cheap! Email me and I can send you some other people I know. Sherbert Blossom does some really cute stuff too! My friend carrie knows someone who creates custom blog stuff too!

i used wordpress to create a website for the law firm i worked for in raleigh (it's still up - wgalaw.com, Note - I did NOT to the header. it is ugly.) because my boss wouldn't pay anyone to do it. wordpress definitely gives you more options than blogger, but I thought it was more difficult to follow and to customize. I also think it is easier to compose blog posts in blogger (I usually compose in html).

Unless you just want to learn for the sake of learning, I would pay someone to do want you want. Scoutiegirl.com will probably have some suggestions as well as links to online classes and such. I think she also does designs.

I use wordpress and love it. I found it pretty easy to set up and very easy to manage!
